receiving the Award for Excellence in Life Support!
One of the reasons Medical College of Georgia Health, Inc was found
noteworthy as specified by the ELSO Award Committee is:
You are awarded this honor based on the continuing excellence of your
program. You have monthly meetings with case studies, involving a mixture of
RNs, RTs, and MDs to present the educational portion of each meeting Physicians,
(both Fellows and Attendings) attend the same ECMO course and water labs as the
specialists, then go through a similar credentialing process under the direct
supervision of an experienced ECMO physicians. Bedside nurses are trained in
emergency procedures to include "bridging" the patient and care during
cannulation and decannulation.
