ELSO would like to recognize The Children's Hospital of
Philadelphia for
receiving the Award for Excellence in Life Support!
One of the reasons The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was found
noteworthy as specified by the ELSO Award Committee is:
You are awarded this honor based on several aspects of your excellent
program. Your ECMO core team is required to complete a series of simulations
involving emergencies every three months in addition to annual water drills and
written competencies. All meetings are mandatory. The Division of Neonatology
requires their attendings to be the physician of record for a minimum of sixty
hours per year and to attend the refresher course annually. Your ECMO Operations
committee meets monthly to discuss all cases from the previous month along with
any complications or difficulties encountered. Debriefing is offered to any team
member, if necessary.
