One of the reasons Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York/Columbia University Medical Center was found noteworthy as specified by the ELSO Award Committee is:

You are awarded this honor based on your team’s impressive mentoring program. New specialists are mentored for up to 600 hours before they are considered independent and run the pump at night or on weekends. In addition, you demonstrate excellence by reviewing morbidity and mortality data weekly and by having an ECMO specific QA/QI conference quarterly.
